ALGON Issues warning to Oyo Councils Caretaker Chairmen, Banks
The sacked Chairmen of the Local Governments in Oyo State have warned the newly inaugurated council bosses to desist from executing the statutory responsibilities of the office, informing them that it is illegal for them to carry out financial and other activities on behalf of council authority.
The embattled sacked chairmen further warned the banks housing the councils accounts against recognising the newly inaugurated chairmen as well as allowing them to transact through the banks.
This warning was contained in an open letter by the sacked chairmen under the aegis of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON, signed by its chairman, Prince Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye and the Secretary, Pastor Jesutoye Oluyinka.
According to the letter addressed to the new Chairmen, bankers to Local Government Councils and Local Council Development Authority, LCDAs, Heads of Local Government administration and staff, the new council bosses were warned against being part of the illegality being perpetrated by the state government under the leadership of Governor Oluseyi Makinde.
ALGON said it decided to issue the warning in order not to be complicit in the illegal actions because of the repercussions.
